THE SOFT EARTH SPEAKS
My roots as a painter deepened during the decades I did ceramics and these recent images from "I Ching", the Book of Changes remind me that natural laws ground and guide me to continue nature's work in the human world.
After 46 years of having a fuel-burning kiln, I dismantled mine and pots available here and at my seaside studio are what remain. Visit by calling or emailing for an appointment. Weekday summer hours are 11a.m. to 1p.m. July and August.
Some results of 22 years investigating ocean sediment glazes are dispersing as sets of cards printed on paper and glaze images printed on silks. Presentations I do are usually well received and I appreciate being approached to work collaboratively when there's funding.
I'd love to teach or mentor people using models of independent studies -- I'd love to see this work carried on but cannot offer the physical space or equipment. Immersion is important to develop ways of partnering with materials and processes in this way.
