Crater Ash from Iceland
7" wide x 4" high
On porcelain clay, the crunchy ash I picked up from a crater in Iceland, I spread onto the clay as granules bound in a volatile synthetic wax that burned out in the kiln. The "fireball' color was a gift of the firing, as it caused a rutile slip to tell a story about heat.
The lavender rim is a glaze I assembled from refined materials.
