I Ching Images: Monastic Colors
On 16 mm silk twill size 70" x 20", these images are interpretations of each 'Image' section of the I Ching's 64 hexagrams. It can be a hanging or a wearable piece.
Paula Underwood Spencer, a native American writer, once said to me, "Ms. Pearl, we only need three outfits -- one to wash, one to wear, and one for ceremonies." Wearing the scarves I've had made remind me that ceremony is an awareness shift. I often wear them hidden under hoodies or visibly draped and fastened with a knot or a pin. Never the same twice.

Book of Changes: Images on Backdrop of Particulates in Motion
On 16 milimeter silk satin, 64 images interpreted by Joan from translated text generated by a civilization from 2,500 to 3,000 years ago, on a backdrop of wind and carbon monoxide chemistry in motion on a winter day in the northern hemisphere. If you want to explore the maps of wind, weather, ocean, and pollution conditions, as forecast by supercomputers, on an interactive animated map that's updated every three hours, go to Earth NullSchool.
Wearing this is 'a trip'. Its colors interact well with almost everything and the way it's wrapped gives options for composing content and colors.
Cosmic Magma Square: 36" Square
36" x 36" Silk Satin 16mm
This reminds me of my place in a vast living system. There was only one "Cosmic Magma" bowl but what happened on it from melting mud was an amazement to nearly everyone who saw it. Now it's on silk to wear or hang and it's also on the book cover of "Opening Science for All: a Continuing Quest" by Cecily Selby.
Cosmic Magma Square: 20" Square
I read this and wear it and am reminded me of my place as a life form in a living system.
There was only one "Cosmic Magma" bowl but the image was so magical that I've wanted to keep it circulating. Self-organized mud made rivulets that are on many of the scarves in the collection.
Mid-Atlantic Ridge Rock Slurry
Can't say anyone else would get the thrill I do of wearing Earth crust around my neck.
Morning Pigment Lines
Photographed pigments, all named. Central line of olivene sand. Keep clicking and read. Moves in the wind, drapes, I love it.
Refined Rocks make Pigments: 20" Square
Created from a photograph of artists pigments on a soapstone slab. Add binders to get paints that artists have used for centuries. Most of these came from rock deposits somewhere in the world.
I wear it alot and as I fold into a triange there's choice about what colors show which makes it go well with many outfits.
