PAINTING WAS MY TRAINING

Fishing Beyond Memory

Picture
38" high x 44" wide, gouache and watercolor on paper. Unframed.
Staring at trout being farmed in the Pisgah Fish Hatchery at the national forest in North Carolina, I noticed an albino fish and stared with no thought of time and later came this.
$3,000

POTENTIAL

Potential Within Cabin Fever

$3,000.00

18" x 24", embossed rag paper and graphite.

When snow, piled high against glass was all I could see out of windows of my Vermnt home, I drew this from my sense of activity beneath the soil as roots swelled and the promise of spring was not an illusiion. Microrganisms galore in the soil seemed akin to to plant life in my vision for the gardening seasons to come.

Three Walks One Winter Day

Picture
32" wide x 47" high with frame.  Oil pastels, gouache, graphite on paper.
Rain, snow and slush sounds splatting as I walked, sunrise stillness and pulsing precipitation under a broody sky.  Luminous color as fine snow blew onto my cheeks.
$2,700

March Day

Picture
Oil pastels, gouache and graphite on paper.
35" wide x 44" high with frame.  Oil pastels, gouache and graphite on paper.
Cold sea water looking like Caribbean's turquoise as brightening sun overhead shone through March's clear air.  Strong shadows on angular rocks, sounds of cold water hitting rocks, spray on face -- ENERGY.
$4,200

More paintings viewable at studio, and if I get to photographing them, I'll post them here.

Great Wish Framed

$200.00

Laser print from original gouache giving form to a reading Judy McClain texted to me from "The Principal Upanishads". Framed, it's size is !5" wide x 18" high.

The means for the Attainment of a Great Wish. The text:

Then he sips it (saying) 'On that adorable light: The winds blow sweetly for the righteous, the rivers pour forth honey. May the herbs be sweet unto us. To Earth, hail. Let us meditate on the divine glory: May the night and the day be sweet. May the dust of Earth be sweet. May heaven our maker, be sweet to us. To the atmosphere, hail.

May he inspire (illumine) our understanding: May the tree be sweet unto us. May the sun be sweet, may the cows be filled with sweetness for us. To the heaven, hail. [He repeats the hymn and verses about honey]

(Saying) May I indeed be all this, hail to Earth, Atmosphere, Heaven. Having thus sipped all, having washed his hands, he lies down behind the fire with his head towards the east. In the morning he worships the sun (saying) of the quarters (of heaven), 'you are the one lotus flower. May I become the one lotus flower among men'. Then he goes back the same way (by which he came), sits behind the fire (on the altar) and recites the (genealogical) line (of teachers).
