LEARNING TOGETHER
Refined from rocks, these pigments are the substance of paints. Ancient humans read rocks, landscapes and weather systems -- a kind of literacy some people rely on today. The central pile of olivene sand is a mix of meteorites and shards from Earth's upper mantle.
The image represents separation and togetherness, a way of expressing tension and possibility. Eliminate the yellows and notice how the absence of any one color drains vitality from the whole. So how do we hold an image for effective group work that favors thriving? |
GATHERING TOGETHER
Restorative justice circles and Zoomers in rectangles are assembling globally. Many people are fluent with various gathering structures: experts in front of audiences, panels on webinars, hierarchies and intra-archies, clusters, teams and fields. Since Covid began I've been reading published stories of kids at home with devices who are learning remotely. How are they supported, how is their learning facilitated and how are they connected to each other? Most reports tells us it's not going well.
Post-Covid offers new challenges and opportunities. How would young people define their peak learning experiences? Who has energy to innovate? Are teachers, students, administrators families and governments in a coordinated process to grow vision for student's successes? How are their aptitudes valued and assessed? How will brick and mortar schools be used? Does informal learning in outdoor spaces after school hours get validated and if so, how?
