Down Deep Out Far
We'll practice ways of feeling our axis in space while using materials to investigate scales of vast space and deep time. Named after the series of my ceramic work that melted Earth's crust and space dust.
That Adorable Light: A Tonal World
By imagining the seafloor as if the water had been drained out, Marie Tharpe discovered mid-ocean ridges that led to acceptance of plate tectonics, continental drift and the ocean floor map we often see today. During this Experience, we'll imagine the world with the color drained out. Why do this will emerge by doing this. We'll use pencils, charcoal, inks and paints -- all colorless.
Ask An Oracle: A Dance With Chance
Using a translation of a 3,000 year old book, "I Ching" or "Book of Changes" we'll ask a question, throw coins, get a reading and reflect on how the reading informs the question, based on "All that happens in heaven and on Earth".
Anybody's Guess: Independent Study Format
These begin when you approach me. An independent study in ceramics in 1970 set me off on a life path like no other. Skills I acquired are a surprising mix that might be useful to others. Read on to see if my story sparks something in you.
