Earth -- a living system.
Working with clay, glaze and fire is a small-scale way I experience large-scale processes. Living landscapes emerge from the kiln.
Left : Evenly applied mud self-organized during firing. Middle: Rock slurry from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge flowed during firing, illustrating the spreading action of tectonic plates. Right: Ocean sediment and lavender glaze interact while foraminifera shells suspend in the mix, the "Cosmic Magma" bowl.
