Some people call me a geologist but I never took an Earth science course. Having been a painting major at Boston University, it’s logical to think of my pots as clay canvases for geological stories. When I melt Earth’s deposits into ceramic glazes, and observe the outcomes, I am closest to fathoming deep time and vast space. Working with fire has helped me experience a sense of intimacy with Earth’s core dynamics.
